My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.............. Mockumentary?

Hey Web,

On wednesday I had a full day of lectures, but with a free lunch I wasn't complaining.

One of the lectures was from the editor of the Traveler Times. He didn't really expand on much apart from this new show called My Big Fat Gypsy wedding. I hadn't watched it at the time but I wanted to after he had a rant about it, and how it was ruining the gypsy culture.

He also said to a room of students "Did any of you watch tv last night?"

Answer = "No we are students, we don't own tv's because it cost about 150 quid for the license.
We wait until the next day and watch it online."

Any way when I got back I watched a few episodes, and I kind of agree with what he was saying. The show makes out as if the whole community makes the women stay at home and look after the kids. While the husbands go out and make a living and bring back the bread.

However I think it is very positive towards the women, because even though they do dress pretty proactively they have morals like you wouldn't believe. They WILL NOT HAVE SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE, and will only get married once.

These morals have drifted away in this modern society and in some ways it is kind of nice.
BUT this is outweighed, to me, by the old fashioned view of the women are not truly equal to men.

This is there culture though and should we question it?

Much love

Yours Frank

P.S. I didn't mention the "grabbing" part, because I don't think its as much as a tradition any more but the doc/ mockumentary over emphasize some small details that happen, but if you don't know what it is google it.
