Student Radio starts

Hey

So due to me doing a bit of work experience at a 3rd year project, I have now been invited to do a show on monday nights on the student radio station.

So I'm very, very excited for that, and hopefully I will make some good podcasts out of it, but lets just wait and see.

Went home last weekend, away from uni for a bit, had a nice valentines day and now I'm going bed.

Night

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.............. Mockumentary?

Hey Web,

On wednesday I had a full day of lectures, but with a free lunch I wasn't complaining.

(first sign of a student)

One of the lectures was from the editor of the Traveler Times. He didn't really expand on much apart from this new show called My Big Fat Gypsy wedding. I hadn't watched it at the time but I wanted to after he had a rant about it, and how it was ruining the gypsy culture.

He also said to a room of students "Did any of you watch tv last night?"

Answer = "No we are students, we don't own tv's because it cost about 150 quid for the license.
We wait until the next day and watch it online."

(second sign of a student)

Any way when I got back I watched a few episodes, and I kind of agree with what he was saying. The show makes out as if the whole community makes the women stay at home and look after the kids. While the husbands go out and make a living and bring back the bread.

However I think it is very positive towards the women, because even though they do dress pretty proactively they have morals like you wouldn't believe. They WILL NOT HAVE SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE, and will only get married once.

These morals have drifted away in this modern society and in some ways it is kind of nice.
BUT this is outweighed, to me, by the old fashioned view of the women are not truly equal to men.

This is there culture though and should we question it?

Much love

P.S. I didn't mention the "grabbing" part, because I don't think its as much as a tradition any more but the doc/ mockumentary over emphasize some small details that happen, but if you don't know what it is google it.

Dream Blog

Hey Web,

At the weekends I usually have really weird dreams and the weekend just gone was no exception.

This is how it went.

I was on a train with past people that I have meet in my life, such as old school mates, and friends. The train then sped up and the tracks went up hill into a forest. There were huge pine trees all around and the railway track snaked around each tree. We went deeper and deeper into the forest until it was almost complete darkness. The track then straightened out and dipped a little, but we were still high up in the trees.  You couldn't even see the ground, thats how far up we were.

Suddenly out of the darkness a freight train comes straight for the front of the train. Slams into the first carriage and starts bending the metal structure of the train. Our train then reverses and goes back in the direction it came in but going ten times as fast. I lost sight of the freight train, and held on as we hurtled back through the forest. I looked down and saw that the track was starting to fall away, and the carriage was rocking back and forth. I saw lights ahead, and the trained slowed as we came to rest at an airport right next to a plane. The baggage handlers of the plane then called out to me,
then I woke up.

And I've had weirder,

What was your latest dream?

Work experience

Hey Web,

last week I started doing some work experience for a third year radio project at my uni. All I had to do is put posters up around the different campus's, and then I got to sit in on some of the shows. The main thing I think I'm going to get out of this is just meeting new students and learning a bit about how the system works in a radio studio.

Not much else has happened. Valentines day is looming and red is starting to fill up all the shop windows.

Short one. Half arsed weekend and all that.

Much love

Sexism on Sky

Hey Web,

Sexism has been all over the news in England this week. This is due to the presenters on sky sports.
Basically the story is that the presenters said that a woman referee didn't know the off side rule.
(pretty crucial in football)

This then lead on to reveal footage of one of the presenters making a suggesting comment to the female presenter ,Charlotte Jackson.

They then sacked this presenter.

This is a link to the full story http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9373280.stm

Now I can see why this subject is controversial. If that referee had been male then it would of just been another game with another complaint towards the referee.

But they didn't just say that she didn't know the offside rule they implied that all women didn't know the offside rule. This happens all the time down the pub but they were in a studio and ment to be professionals.

I get that the football world is male orientated, but hey I love football I support Everton, but I don't treat women like they are less important.

It makes me really frustrated that these kind of dicks make sexist remarks and say its just banter.

Its not banter when your the only one laughing.

Grow up your in the 21st century now, equality is here and here to stay.

Being a nerd

Hey Web,

I was introduced to minecraft a while ago didn't get into it at first, but if your creative and you kind of like just making stuff in games this is for you.

Plus the community that surrounds it all and is driving it forward all the time is amazing.
Sure your going to get haters (coz you know they got to hate). But they are quickly overcome by the simple and charming play style of the game.

I thought I would just share this because I have never come across a game with quite the same loving community for the game.

Much love

What is going on?

Hey Web,

Today I was on the train back to my place after just waking up. I didn't know what time it really was but I saw kids getting on the train to go home after school. And I thought to myself

"What have I done today?"

Answer nothing. I felt quite lazy, but hey I'm doing work 2moro. So hopefully I will be more proactive tomorrow. No I WILL BE more proactive.

and I will. I'm going to put up posters tomorrow! That will be FUN!

But I am just about to do some more art for a video I'm creating.

I already have one video up, so if you are bored or stressed and want to watch something that will chill you out and maybe inspire you check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb8zNxZ87T4

Going out as a geek

Hey Web,

So last night I went out on the town for a friends birthday, and we all dressed as geeks.

It was a pretty good night and I was still feeling it when I got up this morning.

But lets have a minute to think about all the DICKS that can't handle alcohol and end up starting on someone or being sick at 11! Who's sick at 11 seriously. If you have drunk hard and you do throw up in the early hours of the morning then well done you have earned that badge and then you never have to do that again. But 11! Come on just go back home and put your night light on, because otherwise you will have nightmares.

Also to all those out there that drink and then think "I'm the best", "Nobody can touch me", "Get out of my way because I'm so much better than you".

Go fuck your self.

And if you start on somebody half your size and a girl, just to make yourself look tough.

Your just a moron, and you deserve what is coming to you.

(Breath in, Breath out)

Rant over

Radio Live assignment DONE!

Hey Web,

Just finished doing my live assignment for radio, as you might of gathered from the title. And it got me thinking of when was the last time I was this nervous?

I think it was probably when I asked my girlfriend out.

And then I thought what would my life be like now if I hadn't of asked her
heres the list:

1. Wouldn't be half as happy as I am now (I know a bit soppy. But true)
2. Might of taken a gap year. (Glad I didn't)
3. Probably wouldn't of done as well in my A-levels
4. And therefore would of been in a different part of the country in a different Uni.
5. Or I might still be at home, maybe working for Blockbuster.

Im pretty glad I asked her.
However never dwell in the past. No matter how good or bad it is.

Live for the moment and be happy.

Much love

Karma

Hey Web

I believe in karma. I believe that if you help others when they ask or even better go out of your way to help others you will be rewarded.

Example
A guy asked for some change for the bus. I gave him two quid.
Next day I found a fiver on the floor. Karma!
Now I know that this is material possessions, and it doesn't always work like this but I like to think if every just help somebody else out just once a day or even once a week the world would spin a little happier.

And you know what else I'm going use that fiver for good.

Dunno what exactly yet.

Maybe to another guy wanting to get home on the bus. Or buy a sandwich for a homeless guy.

Much love to ya

Eclipse

Hey Web,

I said I would do so here I am.

I watched eclipse on saturday night, and you know what, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's not in my top ten films but its not on the bottom of the pile either. The bottom of the barrel would be the CORE. Now thats a shitty film.

So there you have it i didn't think it was that bad but I think Kristin Stuart is probably one of the worst actress ever!
She is stone and she always has that stupid smirk/ smile on her face. Just go away.

But hey can't wait to see how they do the birth scene in the final 2 films which ever one its in.
And don't say "HEEEY you should of said spoiler alert!"

Get over yourself, if your interested in twilight then you should know what the story is and that bella does glitter in the sun in the end and have a baby. OH there I go again.

Much lovevo

Weekend is over back to the Grind!

Hey Web,

So this weekend I went to see TRON and let me tell it was awesome. The actual film is good but the music and the opening scene on the bike is woooooooooooooooooooooooooh.

If you like Daft Punk go see it. and if you like sci fi go see it amd if you like romantic love dove films don't go see it.

But the 3D in the film isn't worth it. I wish they had just left it all in 2D to be honest.

And the whole 3D thing you got going hollywood, stop it, stop it, stop it now.

We all know you just want our money and sticking two other characters to the end of a movie poster and then charging two pound more for the film, is not cool. Especially when the movie is ment to be shown in 2D. In the words of Donnie Darko (great film aswell)

Totally didn't Realize

Hey Web,

I'll just start off with a side note, nobody really calls it "the web" any more, do they?

Anyways, I totally didn't realize that it was the 11.1.11 yesterday. So happy whatever day that is.

Oh and can we all just give it a rest with the happy new years now, we all know that its 2011 (as the date above explains) and if you get anybody asked what year it is from now on you know that they are indeed a time traveler.

Just a short one for today.

Much love and cheers

Youtube is truly wonderful at wasting hours and hours and hours.

Hey web

I do not like coding websites. It sucks!

I can't do it very well. I do one thing, like change the colour of something, and then it all goes crazy and tells me I only have half of the website I created in the first place, and is decreased.

Then I spend the next 40 mins trying to nurse it better, and convince it that the colour I had changed it to was just a mistake and were all cool now. Jesus.

And then it kicks off again coz I was blasphemous.

So back to my original point Youtube is very distracting to me. I find myself surfing the depths of the youtube systems late at night some times typing "cat fails", "cats do the funnest things", you get the picture.
I did go through a phase of becoming completely obsessed with "Vloggers" and I did a bit myself before I realized "hey you look like a giant douche".

So now I just watch the videos. Like being at the zoo, kind of. ish.

cheers for reading

Late night Blogging

Hey Web,

What to say what to say.....

I'm back at uni, and was told that I don't actually start for another 4 days so wooo to you.
Christmas and New year is over so every ones now getting back to normal, breaking new years resolutions and sobering up.

I never really got new years resolutions and don't think I've ever made one. Actually I did when I was about 7, to give up going round to the neighbours house to play with teenage mutant ninja action figures, ........but when they got the blimp to complete the set I couldn't say no.

I just do what I want, in the moment I guess. Which in some cases has hindered me, like when I cut off the back of a computer to fit a graphics card in, but it didn't because it was the wrong connection.

But i always look back on the year and make myself a list of what I have done.
In 2010 I completed 6th form, got in to uni, presented a show on cheshire FM, and was sick 5 times because of booze.

mmmmmm I wonder what 2011 will bring.

Thanks for listening/reading internet

So this just Popped into my Head

Hey web,

Just about to go to sleep when I think, no. I want to write something that I have just thought of.

When Jesus was born, did nobody think how hard it would be for Joseph?

He is technically the step dad in the whole nativity scene we have going on in the bible. So have you ever wondered how Joseph felt bringing up the son of God?

If he put one foot out of place he could get smightted!

And do you think if he ever had a fight with Jesus, with such phases as "YOUR NOT MY REAL DAD!"
being thrown around, that Jesus would go a pray and have a little chat with the big man upstairs.

Well I have, and I believe it would go a little like this.

Joseph: Go to your room
Jesus: You can't tell me what to do, I'm JESUS, for my sake
Joseph: I know, but your not going to preach until your eighteen
Jesus: This is so unfair, I can perform miracles and your not letting me save my people
Joseph: Your to young
Mary: Listen to your farther Jesus
Jesus: HE'S NOT MY DAD AND HE NEVER WILL BE!

(Jesus storms off to his room and slams door....... He calms down and puts his hands together)

Jesus: Dad you there?
God: ...................... yeah what is it son?
Jesus: nothing its just a bit ..... when am I seeing you again?
God: ermm, we talked about this before
Jesus: I know but is there any chance that we could go fishing again or create a mountain?
God: look sport, I've got alot on at the moment you'no with the whole everyone sinning, getting the word out about me, and getting this book published. These things just don't happen by themselves you know
Jesus: Alright, so theres no chance then?
God: Hey I need you to just spread my word, you know mix it up a bit, do a few live events. But listen to your mother, and a bit to Joseph
Jesus: Ok I'll do that dad and then we can be together.
God: Faster than you can say Easter!

And thats what I think it would play out like.

That was almost a bit of a skit.

Yours

Frank

The New Year is shaping up

Hi web,

I've blogged several times now and I feel that its quite therapeutic for me. I havn't really talked about much but its helped me just get through some days.

So lets share some stuff about me. I'm a student at BCU university, and I'm studying media and communications. Basically making and producing content for half the course and the other half is learning what people think/ believe about media and why do they believe that.

I just like to say to anyone who has read any of my blogs or if you are reading this thanks, and post a comment and I'll read yours.

(bit simple and no ranting, but I wanted to spread some new year love)

Dear web,

Its the new year and I'm ill, great start.

Oh and just saw the Indan jones film with the crystal skull in it.
Didn't make me feel any better. I mean aliens! come on, Indy deals with boulders, natives with spears and monkey brains, not E bloody T.
